Magnesium
Magnesium is a part of Recovery Rx’s formula because it directly supports neuromuscular signaling and helps “turn down” the overactive tension + sensitivity loop that often travels with pain—especially in tight, tense muscle tissue.
How magnesium works
Magnesium is an essential mineral that:
Regulates nerve-to-muscle signaling, acting as a physiologic “brake” on excessive excitation. When tissue is irritated, muscles tend to stay switched on; magnesium supports a calmer baseline so fibers can release normally.
Competes with calcium at key channels, helping reduce over-firing in neuromuscular junctions and supporting healthier contraction–relaxation cycling (the difference between “tight” and “functional”).
Supports pain-threshold physiology, because magnesium is involved in pathways that influence excitability and pain signaling. In plain terms: it helps the nervous system become less reactive.
Evidence for pain and joint support
Magnesium is widely used in recovery-focused protocols because it’s foundational to normal muscle function and is commonly associated with reduced “tightness” and post-activity discomfort when magnesium status is supported.
Topical magnesium (often magnesium chloride solutions) is used by many for localized application; it’s addition to the formula fits Recovery Rx’s design goal: targeted, on-the-spot support layered with cannabinoids and botanicals so multiple biological and neurological mechanisms are addressed at once.
